Obituary- Macha, Jr., Richard

Richard “Dick” Macha
Macha, Richard ‘Dick’ died peacefully on Tuesday, November 29,2017 at the age of 85.

Dick is survived by two children, Richard M. (Rachel), and Rhonda Buzbee. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Andy (Katie), Adam, Alex (Ashton), and Alan Buzbee, and Aaron, Abbey, Ashley, Anthony, and Austin Macha. He was blessed with four great grandchildren, Jackson, Andrew, Michael and Gloria Buzbee. Dick was a brother to the late Ben Macha.

Dick was born in Delia, KS to Richard Fred and Helen T. Macha. They moved to Council Grove, KS when he was 12, where he graduated from Council Grove High School in 1950. Dick attended Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, KS and graduated with honors. During college, he was a member of the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve. In 1954, he entered the Army and proudly served his country during the cold war, patrolling the Iron Curtain along the German-Czech border.

Dick began his career in 1956 with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, entering the Executive Development Program in Topeka, KS. He held many management positions in Topeka, KS, Fort Worth, TX, Springfield, MO and St. Louis. He retired in 1991 in St. Louis as Assistant Vice President, Information Systems Network Support.

Dick was a life member of The American Legion Post 31 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1650.

At Dick’s request, there will be no funeral services. Memorial gifts may be made to: Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.

The family would like to sincerely thank caregiver, Maureen and good friend, Jerry for their abundant love and support. They would also like to thank the caregivers at St. Luke’s Hospital and St. Luke’s Rehabilitation for their kind attention during his final weeks.
