Mrs. H.W. Lipp Passes Over
Mrs. Mary A. Lipp, the wife of H.W. Lipp passed away between four and five o'clock last Saturday morning, after being more or less in ill health for many years, the last year being in particularly poor health. Death was due to carcinoma- a form of cancer. Mrs. Lipp came to Kansas in 1878, a few years after Mr. Lipp first came here and bought the present farm south of Rossville, and together they faced the vicissitudes of the pioneers in this part of the county.
Mrs. Lipp was born in Illinois, November 20, 1850, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Heisler, being 67 years, 3 months and 26 days old when death came. She was united in marriage to Henry W. Lipp in the year 1870, in Illinois and remained there in the early seventies coming on to Kansas after this part of the country began to settle up. During all the forty years since, Mrs. Lipp said her husband had lived on the same farm.
The funeral sermon was delivered by the Rev. John R. Shaffer in the Rossville Methodist church, Sunday afternoon, at 2:30 p.m. and interment was made in the Rossville cemetery.
