Obituary- Wehner, Larry B.

Larry Wehner

Larry Wehner, 71, of Rossville, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020, after a five-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Larry donated his brain to the University of Kansas Medical Center for Alzheimer’s Research.

Larry was born on October 6, 1948, to Clarence and Rita Wehner in Rossville. He attended school in Rossville and graduated in 1966.

Larry married his high school sweetheart Linda Miller in 1966 in St. Marys. She survives.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, IBEW #304, and AQHA.

After high school, he worked at the then-new General Foods Plant in Topeka. He later went to work for Kansas Power and Light at Jeffrey Energy Center as an electrician until he retired in 2003. He also raised quarter horses and farmed. After retirement, he went to work for Foster Farms, where he got to do what he truly loved – farming, riding his horses, and taking care of cattle.

Linda and Larry enjoyed their family and traveling; they had visited all but a few of the 50 states. Their favorite place was Maui, Hawaii. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by taking their sons, daughter, and spouses to Hawaii with them. They loved to dance and go to movies.

Larry and Linda were blessed with a great family, two sons and a daughter, Larry (Sheri) Wehner, Jeff (Holly) Wehner and, Paula (Codie) Shenold; six grandsons, Trevor, Jacob (Bailey), Derek (Courtney), Hunter and Joe Wehner, Cooper Shenold, and a granddaughter Emma Shenold; four great-grandchildren, Beckett, Hayden, Lakyn and Rowan. Larry is also survived by two sisters, June (Marvin) Burgett, and Helen (Calvin) Lytle.

Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday, September 21, 2020, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Rossville Cemetery.
