Obituary- Cantillon, Michael

Michael David “Mike” Cantillon

ST. MARYS - Michael David “Mike” Cantillon, 46, died Thursday, April 26, 2007 at the Community Hospital in St. Marys.

He was born July 9, 1960 at Bartlesville, OK., the son of William David and Nida Mogus Cantillon. He grew up in Kansas and Oklahoma graduating from Ponca City High School in 1978. Mike attended OSU. He moved back to Kansas in 1987.

Mike worked for Westar Energy at the Tecumseh Generator Plant for 17 years. He also operated a cattle business. He was member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 657 both in St. Marys. Mike was a loving husband and father supporting his children in all of their activities especially in sports. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt. Mike was a Kansas State Football season ticket holder and was an avid Kansas State Fan.

On July 30, 1982 he was united in marriage to Kim Tolle at Ponca City. She survives at home.

Other survivors include a son, William David “Chance” Cantillon, Manhattan; a daughter, Taylor Ann Cantillon of the home; his father William (Judy) Cantillon, Rossville; his mother Nida Austin, Ponca City; a brother Rich Cantillon, Blackwell; a sister Candy Karpe, Ponca City; and grandparents, Andy and Beth Mogus.

Mike was preceded in death by a sister Kathy Overby and by grandparents, Richard and Ann Cantillon, and by his step father, Bob Austin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 30, 2007 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Mr. Cantillon will lie in state from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, April 29 at Piper Funeral Home and after 6:00 at the church were there will be a Vigil Service at 7:00 followed by a Rosary. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Marys High School Athletic Program and sent in care of the funeral home.
