Lela A. Cox
Lela A. Cox, 94, Rossville, died Tuesday, December 16, 1997, at the Rossville Valley Manor.
She was born September 17, 1903, in Delia, the daughter of Artie J. and Georgiana Morrow Ward She had lived in Delia, Mayetta, Denison and Rossville com¬munities most of her life.
Mrs. Cox grew up in the Delia community and was graduated from Delia High School in 1922. She was a member of the Delia Presbyterian Church, and was ac¬tive in the Rossville Senior Citi¬zens group for several years.
She was married to Russell Cox December 17, 1924. He died in 1976. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Lundin.
Surviving her are two daugh¬ters, Marjorie Houck, Galt, Calif, and Carol Peterson, Mansfield, Tex.; one son, Robert E. Cox, Maple Hill; one sister, Irene Salisbury, Lawrence; two brothers, Artie Ward, Buffalo, and Dale Ward Las Vegas, Nev.; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Relatives and friends met from 7 until 8 Thursday evening at Pip¬er-Verschelden Funeral Home. Her service was at 10:30 Friday at the funeral home. Burial was in the Delia Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delia Presbyterian Church and sent in care of the fu¬neral home.
