Cornelius Cummings
ROSSVILLE — Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parker-Price Mor¬tuary in Topeka for Cornelius Darvin Cummings, 69, Rossville, who died Sunday, Dec. 10, 1995, at a Topeka convalescent center.
He was born June 21, 1926, in Mayetta, the son of John W. and Viola May Jones Cummings. He was graduated from high school in Valley Falls and spent most of his life in Rossville. He served in the Navy during World War II. He worked at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber plant in Topeka 35 years.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville.
He was married to Lorraine Gail Lee April 24, 1951, in Mayetta. She survives. A son, Mark C. Cummings, died Sept. 3, 1993.
Other survivors include a son, Michael Darvin Cummings, Willard; and five daughters, Virginia S. Franklin and Sallie A. Kelley, both in Rossville, Gale Ellen McFarland, Carbondale, Alice Marie Andrick, Dover, and Amy Ruth Hill, Willard.
Also surviving are five brothers, Gerald Cummings and Anthony Cummings, both in Topeka, Theodore Cummings, Hutchinson, Richard Cummings, Manhattan, and Leonard Cummings, St. Marys; five sisters, Theresa Prockish, Wichita, Mildred Schucker, Los Angeles, Margaret Cummings and Vera Cummings, both in Topeka, and Mary Ann Waltman, Paxico; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery northwest of Topeka Mr. Cummings will lie in state after 9 a.m. today at the mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m.
