Barbara A. Dudney
Barbara A. Dudney, 74, passed away July 8, 2011, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.
She was born June 2, 1937, at Simpson, the daughter of James Roy and Melba Marguerite Huff¬man Gentry. Barbara lived in Simpson un¬til she was in the fifth-grade when the family moved to Rossville. She graduated from Rossville High School in 1955. Mrs. Dudney had been a secretary for the Kansas Legislature for many years and had been Sen. Anthony Hensley’s secretary since she started working for the state. She earlier had worked for the Topeka Chamber of Commerce. Barbara was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church and also was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post 31 Auxiliary of the American Legion.
Barbara was preceded in death by her par¬ents, a brother, Bobby Gentry, and a sister, Betty Dick.
On Aug. 17, 1958 she was united in marriage to Bryce “Pete” Dudney at Rossville. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include her children, Robyn Dudney of Silver Lake, Brenda Powell of Temple, Texas, and Mark Dudney of Silver Lake; a brother, Billy Gentry and wife Beverly of Rossville; and her granddaughter, Alayna Powell.
Funeral services were July 13 at Rossville United Methodist Church. Interment followed in Rossville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Rossville United Methodist Church or Jimmie Lillard Post 31 of the American Legion and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple, St. Marys, KS.
