Obituary- Durow, Germaine 3
GERMAINE DOHRMAN DUROW
Germaine Dohrman Durow, 94, died June 17, 2012, at Winter Meadow Homes, Topeka.
She was born Jan. 20, 1918, in St. Marys, the daughter of John and Mary Brunin Dohrman.
She attended parochial schools in St. Marys graduating from high school and attended St. Marys Col¬lege in Leavenworth two years.
Mrs. Durow taught all eight grades in a one-room school for two years.
She married Lloyd Durow on May 3, 1942.
She was a stay at home mom caring for their two sons and doing volunteer work at Holy Name Church as well as doing volunteer work for the Potwin Church Friendly Neigh¬bor Lunch Program and Lets Help.
Mrs. Durow was a member of Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church and the Little Flower Circle
of the Daughters of Isabella. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother.
Germaine enjoyed china painting and all kinds of other crafts.
Lloyd and Germaine were mem¬bers of the Rolling Sams Camping Club spending the winters in the Rio Grande Valley.
She was preceded in death by five brothers: Bill, Ray, Jack, Lee and Paul; and five sisters: Sally, Mary, Veronica, Monica and Catherine.
Germaine is survived by her hus¬band Lloyd of the home; two sons: Richard (Bobbie) Durow and Terry (Lois) Durow, all of Topeka; two sisters: Margaret Tomson, St. Marys and Dolores Floersch, Rossville; five grandchildren: Susan (Scott) Hodge, Topeka, Brian (Shannon) Durow, St. Louis, Andrea Durow, Oklahoma City, Okla., Mike (Renee) Durow, Flippen, Ark., and Heather Durow, Tulsa, Okla.; six great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 21, at Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church, Topeka.
Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys.
Mrs. Durow will lie in state at the church after 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, where there will be a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church Building Fund and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 W. Maple St., St. Marys, KS 66536.
