Obituary- Davis, Blanche 1

BLANCHE DAVIS
______

Mrs. H. H. Davis, one of our beloved native born women, died Friday at a Topeka hospital following a year of declining health. The mother of a family of fine boys and girls and combining a wonderful sense of humor with other splendid traits of character, had made her a prized friend to a wide circle in this community where she spent her entire life.

Blanch Baird Davis daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James P. Baird, was born October 18, 1888, in Rossville and passed away October 8, 1948, at the age of 59.

She was united in marriage to Henry H. Davis, November 15, 1905, and to this union four sons and two daughters were born; Mrs. Katherine Haynes, Mrs. Betty Pense, Elmer and Dale Davis, all of Topeka; Francis Davis, of Los Angeles, Calif; and Glen Davis of Rossville.

She also is survived by her husband, three brothers, William Baird of Rossville, John Baird of Summer, Wash., and J. M. Baird of Groton, Conn.; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Methodist church and of Amarayllis Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star of Rossville.

Funeral services were held at the Rossville Methodist Church Sunday, October 10, at 2:30 p. m. The Rev. E. O. Harbour officiated. Music for the service was furnished by Mrs. Lorene Harth and Mrs. Maxine Trimble, with Mrs. Irene Campbell accompanist.

Pallbearers were John Pearl, M. L. Whearty, Roy McClain, W. H. Kerr, Joe Parr, and Shirley Parr. Interment was in Rossville cemetery.
