Obituary- Davis, Ethyl 2

Ethyl M. Davis

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Rossville Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Ethyl M. Davis, 81, Rossville. She died Friday, April 7, 1989, at a Topeka hospital.

Mrs. Davis was in charge of licensing nursing homes in northeast Kansas at the time of her retirement in October 1972. She previously was employed by the Topeka YWCA, Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and the Adult Care Home Department.

She was born October 16, 1907, at Higginsville, Mo., the daughter of Fred H. and Mary Wegener Biesemeyer. She moved to Kansas at an early age and was graduated from McCracken High School. She attended Topeka Business College.

Mrs. Davis was a member of Rossville Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Organization at the church. She served seven years as treasurer of the Women’s Organization.

She was married to John P. Davis November 13, 1952. He survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Clarence S. Gerberick, Bath, Maine, and Fred H. Davis, Harrisonville, Mo.; a sister Mary Lou Stoffel, Austin, Tex., three stepbrothers; and three grandchildren.

Burial was in Rossville Cemetery. Relatives and friends met with the family at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
