Obituary- Edwards, John

JOHN P. EDWARDS
John R. Edwards, 81, one of Greenwood County’s most success-ful cattlemen, passed away Nov¬ember 12, 1958, in a Eureka hospi¬tal. He had been in failing health for three years.
He was born October 26, 1877, in Iowa City, Iowa, and moved with his parents to Greenwood County when he was seven years old. He was a resident of the county the remainder of his life, his home be¬ing on a farm south of Madison the last 63 years. On February 21, 1909, he married Miss Mary J. Lea of Lucerne, Mo.
Besides his wife, survivors in¬clude three daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Worley of Azalea, Ore., Mrs. Stella Hall of Salem, Ore., and Mrs. Betty Anne Wade of Route 8, Tope¬ka; two sons, Tom Edwards of Hamilton, Kansas, and Dale Ed¬wards of Topeka; seven grandchild¬ren; one brother, Dave Edwards of Hamilton, Kansas; and three sisters Mrs. Annie Brown of Payette,, Idaho, Mrs. Lu Lantj of Hamilton, and Mrs. Lillie Lindamood of Eureka.
Services were held at the Christ¬ian Church at Madison, Kansas, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Interment was in the Prairie Chappel Cemetery. [sic]
Those from in and around Ross¬ville attending Mr. Edward’s funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Carrell and Leroy, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Decker, Mr. and Mrs. Jonny George, Mary McLin, Ben C. Wade Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Dale Romine, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lister.
Mrs. Betty Anne Wade, his dau¬ghter, formerly taught the third and fourth grades in Rossville for three years.
