Frederick E. Elevier
Frederick Eugene Elevier, 55, Silver Lake, died Sunday, December 5, 1999, at a Topeka hospital.
He was born March 12, 1944, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Gerald H. Elevier and Phyllis Smith.
Mr. Elevier grew up in the Rossville community and was graduated from Rossville High School in 1962, and attended Ft. Hays State College, Hays. He worked for the Burlington North-ern Santa Fe Railroad for 36 years, and had most recently worked for Lowe’s Home Improvement CenŽter, Topeka.
He had served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves from 1964 until 1969. He was a member of the St. Stanislaus CathŽolic Church, Rossville, and Holy Name Catholic Church, Topeka. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 534, Topeka. He had been an active 4-H leader in Silver Lake and had been on the Shawnee County Fair Board. He had coached youth baseŽball and basketball in Silver Lake and also at the YMCA in Topeka. He was involved in the Meals on Wheels program in Topeka.
He married Diane L. Cowan on May 27, 1967 in St. Marys. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Aaron Elevier, Overland Park; his mother, Phyllis Marney, Rossville; five sisters, Barbara Brake, Eldon, MO, Nancy Jons, Overland Park, Cathy Lauderdale, Kansas City, KS, Vickie Smith, Kansas City, MO, and Carla Burney, Mayview, MO; seven brothers, Larry EleviŽer, Kenny Elevier, Jimmy Elevier, and Steven Elevier, all of Kansas City, KS, John Elevier, Ozawkie, Jerry Elevier, Lawrence, and Danny Elevier, Kansas City, MO.
His service was private. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Piper-Verschelden FunerŽal Home, St. Marys, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and sent in care of the fuŽneral home.
