Obituary- Emert, Clarence 1

TIM EMERT
Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville for Clarence L. “Tim” Emert, 79, Rossville, who died Friday night, March 15, 1974, in a St. Marys rest home. He was readmitted to a Topeka hospital last January 22 after he suffered a broken left hip in a fall and later was released.
He was born July 28, 1894, at Rossville and spent most of his life in the Rossville and St. Marys communities. He was graduated from St. Marys College at St. Marys in 1916. While he was a student at the college, Mr. Emert was a pitcher on the St. Marys College Baseball Team. He was approached by a scout for the Chicago White Sox professional ball team but declined to accept the position.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Rossville. He was a farmer before he retired.
He was married to Florentine Stockman November 14, 1917, at St. Marys. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Winifred McClain, Rossville, and Mrs. Joan Siegert, Garland, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. Edna Pearl, St. Marys, and four grandchildren.
A wake service was held at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys Sunday night at 8:00 p.m. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys.
Casket bearers were Duane Parr, Don Rogers, Curt Berkey, William Martinek, DeVere Miller and Leo Berry, all from Rossville.
