Davis

Glen H. “Buzz” Davis, 74, Holton, died Monday, Aug. 12, 1985, at the Holton Hospital.

Mr. Davis was a farmer and heavy equipment operator for the Kansas Turnpike Authority maintenance department. He retired in 1977.

He was born Nov. 6, 1910, at Rossville, the son of Henry Hopkins and Blanche Baird Davis. He lived in Topeka before he moved to Holton in March, 1982.

Mr. Davis was a member of First Christian Church in Rossville and Golden Rule Lodge No. 92, AF&AM, in Topeka.

He was married to Opal Marie Bickford Dec. 5, 1937, at Lyndon. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Ronald Lee Davis and Dennis Glen Davis, both of Topeka; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Haynes and Mrs Betty Pence, both of Topeka; two brothers, Dale Davis, Topeka, and Elmer Davis, Rossville; a stepsister, Mrs. Mary Lou Whitten, Topeka; a stepbrother, Dr. Jack Enos in Oklahoma; and two granddaughters.

Services will be a 10 a.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in Holton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holton Hospital Auxiliary and sent in care of Denison State Bank, Holton, 66436.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Francis Baird Davis, who died in 1982.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, from the Mercer Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Beaumont officiating. Burial was in the Holton Cemetery. Special music was furnished by Bob Brown who sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art.” Mr. Brown also played the organ. Casketbearers were John Haynes, John Badger, Wayne Davis, Tim Bickford, Kevin Bickford and Don Nott. Memorials were made to the Holton Auxiliary and sent in care of the Denison State Bank.
