Irene M. Davis

Irene M. Davis, 83, Rossville died Tuesday, February 27, 1996, at the Rossville Valley Manor.

She was born September 22, 1912, at St. Clere, the daughter of Roy and Agnes Rezac Lasswell. She had lived in the Rossville community for many years.

She was graduated from Emmett High School and attended Kansas State Agricultural College in Manhattan. She was a teacher for several years, then worked for Luce Clippings in Topeka. She was a clerk for the postal service in Rossville until she retired. Irene and her husband, Marvin, farmed north of Rossville for many years.

She was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday school there. She was also a 4-H leader in the Rossville community for many years. She was a member of Loyal Chapter No. 176 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Silver Lake.

She was married to Marvin. D. Davis May 17, 1936, at Topeka. He died September 14, 1991.

Surviving her are three sons, Roy D. Davis and Gene L. Davis, Rossville, and Dean L. Davis, Maple Hill; one sister, Lottie Lucas, Topeka; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Family visitation was from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home. Her funeral service was at 11:00 Friday at the funeral home. Burial was at the Rossville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville Presbyterian Church or the Rossville First Responders, and sent in care of the funeral home.
