JOSEPHINE DAVIS

Josephine Wells Davis, was born December 22, 1899, died July 15, 1936, age 36 years, 6 months and 23 days.

She leaves to mourn her going her husband and six children, Marion Elkins, of Topeka, Kansas, and Francis, Joe, Amos, Helen and Linda Davis; also her father, Henry Wells, and five brothers and five sisters, as follows: Mrs. Nannie Cottle, Mrs. Alice Carter, Mrs. Lucy Elam, Miss Edna Wells, Mrs. Kathleen Allen, W. H. Wells, Boone Wells, Ray Wells, Edgar Wells and Warren Wells.

Her request was to sing at the funeral “In the Sweet Bye and Bye,” “Shall We Gather at the River,” and “Will There Be Any Stars in My Crown.” She left a bright testimony and her life was lived for Christ. We cannot see her on earth again, but have the blessed assurance that we will meet her in heaven.

Her request for the scripture reading was II Timothy 4:7, 8, as follows: “I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at the day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” -- West Liberty, Ky. The deceased lady was the wife of Marion Davis, formerly of this community.
