Charles G. Dayton
Charles Gamaliel Dayton, 81, Topeka, formerly of Rossville, died Thursday, December 3, 1992, at a Topeka nursing home.
Mr. Dayton was a material control coordinator for Good¬year Tire and Rubber Company from 1945 until he retired in 1973. He previously was a coal miner 17 years in Pennsylvania.
He was born October 22, 1911, in Buhl, Ida., the son of Joseph S. and Almeda Viola Bitner Dayton, Sr. He lived 31 years in Rossville before mov¬ing to Topeka in October 1990.
Mr. Dayton was a member of Topeka Church of the Brethren, Lake Lodge No. 50, AF&AM, in Silver Lake and Scottish Rite Bodies of Topeka. He was a past president of Goodyear Leisure Club and a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course.
He was married to Sophia Garretson September 23, 1933, in Cumberland, Md. She sur¬vives. A son, Charles Ronald Dayton, died in 1983.
Other survivors include two daughters, Nancy L. Brooks, Topeka, and Judith Kathleen Kovar, Rossville; three sons, John Wade Dayton and Daniel Alan Dayton, both of Overland Park, and Richard Lee Dayton, Topeka; a sister, Esther Mey¬ers, Chambersburg, Pa.; a brother, Joseph S. Dayton, Jr., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; and eight great¬grandchildren.
Mr. Dayton was cremated Inurnment was in Rossville Cemetery. Lake Lodge No. 50, AF&AM, conducted Masonic services. Memorial services were 1:30 p.nr Monday December 7, in the Topeka Church of the Brethren.. Parker- Price Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
