Obituary- DeHart, Harold
Harold VV. “Monk” DeHart, Sr.
Harold William “Monk” DeHart, Sr., 77, Topeka, died Monday, October 4, 1993, at his home. He was born March 12, 1916, at Silver Lake, the son of Prentis and Lula Trimble DeHart. He attended Rossville schools and was a graduate of Rossville High School.
Mr. DeHart was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II. He was a member of Topeka North Post #400 of the American Legion.
He was a supervisor in motel construction for Linquist Construction for 35 years before lie retired. He traveled all over the United States during this employment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Vernon DeHart; and a sister, Goldia Slayton.
Surviving him are his companion, Shirley Cox, of the home; a daughter, Cathy Charity, Topeka; a son, Hal DeHart, Topeka; two brothers, Herman DeHart, North Glen, Colo. and Don DeHart, Topeka; a sister, Donis Hanrahan, Topeka; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Mr. DeHart was cremated. Graveside interment of cremains with military honors was conducted by Topeka North Post #400 of the American Legion at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at Rossville City Cemetery.
The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of die donor’s choice.
