Obituary- Deiter, Jean 2

Jean Deiter

The compassionate spirit of Jean Deiter entered eternal peace on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Midland Care Hospice of Topeka. Jean was a long time resident of Silver Lake. Her life was led with love and kindness through the grace of Christ.

Jean was born February 6, 1933 in Akron, OH, the daughter of Carl C. and Pauline B. (Mitchell) Honeycutt. Carl and Pauline moved Jean to Topeka in 1945 where she graduated Topeka High School in 1950.

She married Robert T. (Bob) Deiter of Maple Hill in 1956 and together they raised a blessing of 3 children from their previous marriages and 4 more from their own union. They moved to the comŽmunity of Silver Lake in in 1958.

Jean was an active member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville for 47 years and Mother Teresa Catholic Church since 2005. She served in many capacities for both churches through the years.

She owned and operated the family farm with Bob from 1958 until his death in 1985. They owned and operated Deiter Christmas Tree Farms beginning in 1981, Jean continued until 2006. She worked part time for the department of agriculture, FSA from 1982 to 2000. Jean served 8 years on Silver Lake School Board District 372. She served on Silver Lake's City Council for 15 years and was a member of Silver Lake Senior Citizens.

Jean is survived by her children, Kay (Irv) Klinger, Fort Worth, TX; Mike (Betty) Deiter, Silver Lake, KS; Susan Hawkins, Lake Wabaunsee, KS; Teresa (Rex) Earley, Prairie Village, KS; Bob (Jennifer) Deiter, Kansas City, MO and step children, Jacqueline (David) Parker, Highlands, NC; Cary (Vikki) Deiter, El Paso, TX. Grandchildren, Heather Brown, Kristopher, Jacob & Megan Deiter, Sarah & Zachary Hawkins, Hannah & Mitchell Earley, Daniel & Elizabeth Deiter, Kinzey Parker, Cary & Sam Deiter, Jennifer Martinek. Great Grand-children, Ethan & Madeline Cregan, Kaylee, Brody & Karys Deiter, Jenna Blad & Peyton Martinek.

Jean also leaves behind many special friends and family who blessed her life. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 11, 2013 at Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Topeka. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Mrs. Deiter will lie in state and the family will receive friends after 6:30 P.M. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys where there will be a Rosary recited at 7:30 P.M.
