Obituary- Delfs, Emma

Mrs. Emma Anne Delfs
ALMA – Mrs. Emma Anne Delfs, 73, Alma, died Sunday, Jan. 29, at her home here.

She was a telephone operator at Alma from 1948 to 1965. From 1965 until 1973 she was foods supervisor at an Alma nursing home.

Mrs. Delfs was born Sept. 30, 1910, at Auburn, the daughter of Charles and Mabel Faust Correll. She moved to Alma from St. George in 1929.
She was a member of The Birthday Club, Peace United Church of Christ and the women’s guild of the church, all at Alma.

She was married to Henry Delfs Sept. 9, 1929, at Junction City. He died Aug. 13, 1973. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Henry Delfs, in 1951, and a grandson, Brad Nider, in 1983.

Survivors include three daughters, Henrietta “Penny” Nider, Rossville, Katherine Noland, Ness City, and Mary Anne Kasburg, Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Marion Correll, Havensville, and Herbert Correll, El Dorado; a sister, Mrs. Lucille Coleman, Delia; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be a 2 p.m. Tuesday at Peace United Church of Christ, Alma. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Delfs will lie in state at LaMarGentry Funeral Home, Alma, from 6 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, and at the church from 1 p.m. until the service time Tuesday. Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church in care of the funeral home.
