Obituary- Denton, Gary

Gary L. Denton
ST. MARYS – Gary L. Denton, 67, died from injuries he received in an auto accident on Saturday, near Rossville.

He was born August 12, 1938, at Topeka the son of Clifford and Kathryn Zemek Denton. He graduated from St. Marys High School and had served in the Army National Guard.

Gary had worked with his father at Denton Salvage Yard and later was co-owner and operator until his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 657 at St. Marys. Gary had taught Hunters Safety courses in the St. Marys Community for over 24 years. He also was a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Indian Tribe.

On June 6, 1959 he was united in marriage to Mary K. Seitz in St. Marys. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Donna Cunningham, Houston, TX.; two sons, Rick Denton, Lebo and Ron Denton, St. Marys; a sister Marlene Sack, St. Marys; two brothers, Larry Denton, St. Marys and Thomas Denton, Silver Lake; and seven grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Thursday May 18, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Mr. Denton will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church where there will be a prayer vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Interment will be in Mr. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Marys Indian Pay Station Museum and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, St. Marys.
