Obituary- DeWilde, Rene

Rene DeWilde

Rene DeWilde, 82, 6034 N.W. Westbrooke Drive, died Monday in a Topeka hospital where he was admitted Feb. 7. He had pneumonia and a heart ailment.

He was born March 26, 1889, in Huesden, Belgium, and moved to the United States in 1909. He returned to Belgium after a few years and later returned to the United States. He lived in the Delia community many years until 1945 and then lived in the Perry community until he moved to Topeka about a year ago.

He was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church at Perry. He was a farmer many years before he retired.

He was married to the former Zoe Daniels April 20, 1920, in Belgium. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Emil DeWilde, Perry; a daughter, Mrs. Marie Rose, at home; a brother, Joe DeWilde, St. George; a sister, Mrs. Marie DeVader, Emmett; eight grandchildren and a greatgrandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. The-resa’s Catholic Church at Perry. Burial will be in Newman Cemetery near Perry. Rosary will be said at Brennan Funeral Home Wednesday evening. The time is to be arranged.



Former Delia resident is dead

Rene DeWilde, 82, died Monday in a Topeka hospital where he was admitted Feb. 7. He had pneumonia and a heart ailment.

He was born Mar. 26, 1889, in Huesden, Belgium, and moved to the United States in 1909. Mr. DeWilde returned to Belgium after a few years and later returned to the United States. He lived in the Delia community many years until 1945 and then lived in the Perry community until he moved to Topeka a year ago.

Mr. DeWilde was a fanner before his retirement. He was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church at Perry.

He was married to the former Zoe Daniels Apr. 20, 1920, in Belgium. She survives.

Other survivors include a son: Emil DeWilde, Perry; a daughter: Mrs. Marie Rose, of the home in Topeka; a brother: Joe DeWilde, St. George; a sister: Mrs. Marie DeVader, Emmett; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Burial will be in Newman Cemetery near Perry.
