Dibbern

Loren Dibbern was born March 10, 1903 at Whiting, the second son of Amiel and Rachel Lyons Dibbern. He spent his childhood days in the Emmett vicinity and attended public schools there.

On November 24, 1922 he married Gladys Simmons at Holton. They lived and farmed many years in Jackson county and also 10 years in the Oak Mills, Kickapoo area. He also worked for Jackson county highway department as a heavy equipment operator. His wife, Gladys, died March 6, 1963.

He married Peggy Willyard in June, 1968 and made his home in Topeka for the last 15 years.

Surviving is his wife of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Ila Mae Morris of Buffalo; four sons Loren Dibbern, Jr. of Holton, Herman Dibbern of Potter, Kenneth Dibbern of Topeka and Noel Dean Dibbern of Springfield, Missouri; one step-daughter Mrs. Carol Moore of Shreveport, Louisiana and one step-son Junior Shelly of California; one sister Mrs. Bertha Eakins of Delia and one brother Henry Dibbern of Topeka; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was a loving family man and greatly enjoyed visiting with his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a special joy to him. He enjoyed being outdoors and especially liked his patio in the back yard. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 24, from The Mercer Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy West officiating. Burial was in the Delia Cemetery. Music was furnished by Clyde and Claude Rieschick who sang "In The Garden” and "The Old Rugged Cross” accompanied by Mrs. Dolores Wright.

Casketbearers were Jack Troxel, Jake Nichols, Bernard Woodall, Dale Reed, Charles Jewell and Darrell Lundin. Memorials were made to the Kansas Heart Association in care of The Farmers State Bank, Circleville, 66416.

Loren Dibbern Sr., 79, 935 N. Monroe, died Wednesday at a Topeka hospital.

He was born March 10, 1903, at Whiting, the son of Amiel and Rachel Lyons Dibbern. He lived in Jackson County most of his life and in Topeka the past 15 years.

Mr. Dibbern was a farmer and heavy equipment operator for Jackson County Highway Department.

He married Gladys Simmons in 1922 at Holton. She died March 6, 1963. He later married Peggy Willard June 6, 1968. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ila Mae Morris, Buffalo; four sons, Loren Dibbern Jr., Holton, Herman Dibbern, Potter, Kenneth Dibbern, Topeka, and Noel Dean Dibbern, Springfield, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Carol Moore, Shreveport, La.; a stepson, Junior Shelly, in California; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Eakins, Delia; a brother, Henry Dibbern, Topeka; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Mercer Funeral Home, Holton. Burial will be in Delia Cemetery. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas Heart Association in care of Farmers State Bank, Circleville, 66416.
