Albert P. Besta
WAMEGO - Albert P. "Al" Besta. 90, Wamego, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997, at a Wamego nursing home.
Mr. Besta worked for International Har-vester in Wamego for many years. He also was a meat cutter for the Nehring Locker Plant in Wamego, and he was a 50-year member of the Wamego Volunteer Fire Department.
He was born Sept. 23, 1907, in Delia, the son of Albin and Teresa Baluzka Besta.
He was married to Agnes S. Reser on Feb. 26,1926, in Topeka. She died Oct. 6, 1985. He later was married to Mary Kobis- kie in 1985 at Belvue. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Ma¬rie Brazzle, Wamego; a stepson, Averill Startup, Glenwood Springs, Colo.; three stepdaughters, Velma Colter, Topeka, and Sandy Borger and Linda Bellinder, both of Wamego; a sister, Lottie Stum, Rossville; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Besta also was preceded in death by two daughters, Phyllis Mays, in 1982, and Helen Richard, in 1996.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Burial will be at the Wamego City Cemetery. Mr. Besta will lie in state after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home. No family visitation is scheduled.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center and sent in care of the funeral home.
