Obituary- Diehl, George 3

Was former resident of Rossville
George Daniel Diehl, 53, was dead on arrival at a Topeka hospital Sunday morning, Jan. 15, after he suffered a heart attack at his home, 3115 Minnesota, Topeka.
Mr. Diehl had suffered a heart attack May 11, 1966, and had an attack previous to this one.
He was born Oct. 17, 1913, at Stockton in Rooks County, and came to Rossville when he was five years old. George was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Diehl, Rossville.
He attended the Rossville schools and later moved to Topeka where he made his home. He was employed by the Coe Seed Co. of Topeka for 19 years. In 1957 he started working for Graves Truck Line and worked until his last illness. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
Survivors include his wife: Mrs. Elizabeth Hazel Diehl, at home; three sons: Gary Daniel Diehl, 2320 Virginia, Topeka; James Earl Diehl, stationed at Ansbach, Germany, with the U.S. Army; and Frank Eugene Diehl, at home; a daughter: Mrs. Phylis Diane Roosevelt, Long Beach, Calif.; a stepson: George Gaylord Nitzsche, of Springfield, Mo.; a step-daughter: Mrs. Doris Jean Stankiewicz, Long Beach, Calif.;
A brother: Earl E. Diehl, 2540 Amhurst, Topeka; three sisters: Mrs. Iva Marney and Mrs. Ruth Martinek, both of Rossville, and Mrs. Alice Gentry, 1129 Webster, Topeka; 11 grandchildren.
Services were held last Wednesday morning from a Topeka mortuary, with the Rev. Tom Blainey, Maple Hill, officiating.
Nick Clark of Maple Hill was soloist.
Pallbearers were his nephews: Barry Gentry, Ralph Marney, and Scott Diehl, all of Topeka; Steve Nitzsche, Springfield, Mo.; Douglas and Dwight Martinek of Rossville.
Interment was made in the Rossville Cemetery.
Mrs. Nettie Simecka, Topeka, accompanied her grandson, Ricky Simecka, and family to St. Marys last Sunday and visited in the homes of John, Bill, and Frank Simecka and their families. Mrs. Simecka, who will be 92 in May, makes her home in Topeka with her son, Robert, and wife.
