Charles W. Fairbanks
ST. MARYS — Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys for Charles W. Fairbanks, 67, Kansas City, Mo. He died Monday, Aug. 17, 1987, at a Kansas City medical center.
Mr. Fairbanks was a retired automobile salesman. He served in the Navy from 1939 until 1946 at the rank of machinist mate on the USS Altair.
He was born March 17, 1920, at St. Clere, the son of Frank L. and Rena Blaylock Fairbanks.
He was married to Norma Marshall May 14, 1985. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Charles D. Fairbanks, Lubbock, Texas; a stepson, Charles Crites Jr., Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Poynter, Anaheim, Calif., and Mrs. Rena Faye Powers, Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Joseph Fairbanks and Hugh Fairbanks, both of Rossville; and two stepgrandchildren.
Burial will be in St. Clere Cemetery at St. Clere. Mr. Fairbanks will lie in state after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
