Viola Kovar Gideon
PAXICO — Viola Kovar Gideon, 82, Paxico, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at her home.
Mrs. Gideon and her husband farmed, and raised turkeys and registered Hereford cattle in the Paxico area.
She was born Aug. 19, 1915, at Delia, the daughter of Joseph and Fannie Balusek Kovar. She had lived in the Paxico area since 1943.
Mrs. Gideon was a 50-year member of Loyal Chapter No. 176 of the Order of the Eastern Star and past worthy matron. She also served in numerous offices for the Maple Hill Chapter No. 308 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was past district aide of District No. 20 of the Grand Chapter of Kansas, Order of the Eastern Star in 1956. She was a member of the Past Matrons and Past Patrons, and District Aides.
She married Garland R. Gideon on March 3, 1936, at Utica, Neb. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Arnold L. Gideon, Paxico; a daughter, Dianne Dick, Rossville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka, followed by Eastern Star services conducted by Chapter No. 176. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Gideon will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at the mortuary, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m.
