New Car Demolished In US-24 Collision
Two men were killed and their new Mercury car demolished early Monday morning when the car and a big truck driven by Arthur M. Johnson of Kansas City collided headon on highway US-24 about three-quarters of a mile east of Rossville.
Those killed were Harvey J. Lasswell, 22, of Route 1, Emmett, driver, and William C. Gideon, 29, of Delia. Johnson escaped injury and his truck was not seriously damaged. The truck and its load weighed approximately 55,000 pounds.
The car was traveling west on the highway and the truck going east. Officers said the car apparently skidded to the wrong side of the road and the collision resulted.
