Francis A. Graf
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Francis A. Graf, 90, Kansas City, Kan., died Friday, Jan. 26, 1996, at a Topeka hospital.

He was born Jan. 9, 1906, at St. Marys, the son of Maurice and Marie Richstatter Graf. He was graduated from high school at the St. Mary’s College in 1925.

Mr. Graf worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 43 years and retired as a locomotive engineer.

He was a member of St. Joseph-St. Benedict Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kan. He also was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Union Pacific Oldtimer Club, the American Rifleman Club and Knights of Columbus Council No. 657, St. Marys.

He married Madeline Zimmer on Jan. 7, 1941. They were divorced. He later married Ruby Chipman Haffey on Aug. 25, 1958. She died Sept. 25, 1994.

Survivors include a son, Leo Graf; a stepson, Pat Haffey, New Hampton, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Pidgeon, Hailey, Idaho; three sisters, Marie Dolizilek, Rossville, Regina Muckenthaler, St. Marys, and Margaret Hoferer, St. Marys; and seven step-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Marys. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Mr. Graf will lie in state from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys. Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Immaculate Concep¬tion Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home.
