Francis A. Graf
Francis A. Graf, 90, Kansas City, KS, died Friday, January 26, 1996, at a Topeka hospital.
He was born January 9, 1906, at St. Marys, the son of Maurice and Marie Richstatter Graf.
He grew up in the St. Marys community and was graduated from high school at the St. Mary’s College in 1925. He had lived in Kansas City, KS for many years.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 43 years and retired as a locomotive engineer. He was a member of St. Joseph St. Benedict Catholic Church in Kansas City, KS. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Union Pacific Old-timers Club, the American Rifleman Club, and Knights of Columbus Council No. 657 at St. Marys.
He was married to Madeline Zimmer January 7, 1941. They were divorced. He married Ruby Chipman Haffey August 25, 1958; she died September 25, 1994.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Graf, on April 9, 1964.
Surviving him are a son, Leo Graf, address unknown; a stepson, Pat Haffey, New Hampton, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Pidgeon, Hailey, Ida.; three sisters, Marie Dolezilek, Rossville, Regina Muckenthaler and Margaret Hoferer, both of St. Marys; seven stepgrandchildren; one nephew; and five nieces.
A rosary was recited at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 Monday morning at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
