Obituary- Gustin, Edgar
Former Rossville Resident Dies In Leavenworth
Edgar James Gustin, 92, passed away at his home, 524 Prospect, Leavenworth, Kansas, July 21st.
Mr. Gustin was born October 11, 1870, at St. Clere, Kansas, a son of James and Amanda Gustin. Two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
On August 8th, 1901, at Lyndon, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Miss Ettie Zickefoose, a daughter of Peter and Mary Zickefoose, a pioneer family of Shawnee County, Kansas. Mrs. Gustin preceded him in death four years ago. They had celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in August 1951.
Mr. Gustin, who farmed for many years in the Kaw Valley retired and moved to Leavenworth 27 years ago. He was a member of the United Brethren Church. Surviving him are four daughters, Mrs. Mary Colter, 1901 Spruce, Leavenworth, Kansas, Mrs. Beryl Glogau and Mrs. Helen Romig, Oxnard, California and Mrs. Louise Gleason of York, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Mr. Gustin enjoyed exceedingly good health and his death came as a great shock to his family and many friends.
Funeral services were held at the Sexton Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth with graveside services at Rossville. Pallbearers were nephews, Dr. Frederick Zickefoose, Lloyd Mocre, Gilbert Kovar, Richard McCullough, Ellsworth Haas, and George Kovar. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Davis, Denny Davis, and Norman White.
