John Foresman
ST. MARYS — John Lyman Foresman, 82,
St. Marys, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at a Topeka hospice house. He had cancer.
He was born Sept. 27, 1917, in Wamego, to William and Hattie Ault Foresman. He spent his early life in the Wamego and Belvue communities and lived in St. Marys for many years. He was a farmer, mechanic and lumberman before he retired.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 657, both in St. Marys.
He married Nora Dell Patton on Aug. 27,
1940, in St. Marys. She survives. A daughter,
Mary Foresman, died in 1944.
Survivors include two sons, John William Foresman, Auburn, and Thomas Michael Foresman, Rossville; two brothers, Ralph Foresman, St. Marys, and LeRoy Foresman, Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Audria North, Topeka; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Foresman will lie in state after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys where a prayer service will be followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University in Manhattan.
