Mamie M. Hanrahan
Mamie M. Hanrahan, 92, Topeka, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1992, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born May 7, 1900, on a farm west of Delia, the daughter of Patrick and Mary Donnelly Hanrahan. The family moved to Oklahoma in 1910, where she attended school. She attended East Central Teacher’s College in Ada, Okla., and later earned a bachelor’s degree in Read¬ing Methods and Education from Em¬poria State Teacher's College. She earned her master’s in Reading Methods and Economics and Finance in 1956 from the University of Nevada at Reno.
She taught in Oklahoma from 1917 to 1928. In 1929, she came to Kansas and taught at the Security Benefit Private School and two years in Man¬hattan. She then came to Topeka and taught in public schools for 22 years. She was a school supervisor in Las Vegas from 1955 to 1975. She then returned to Topeka.
She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Assumption. She was a charter member of the Sigma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma In¬ternational, an honor society, and was a past president of the Topeka Business and Professional Women’s Club.
Survivors include several cousins.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Catholic Church of the As¬sumption. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Rose- dale Cemetery in Ada, Okla. Miss Hanrahan will lie in state after 2 p.m. Monday at Brennan Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 6:15 p.m. Monday.
