Obituary- Hansford, Lora

LORA L. HANSFORD
Mrs. Lora L. Hansford, 82, Topeka, died Saturday, September 25, 1982, at a Topeka hospital.

She was born July 24, 1900, at Columbia, Mo., the daughter of Isaac N. and Willa May Yates Burks. She lived in Silver Lake and Soldier before she moved to Topeka in 1972.

Mrs. Hansford was an elementary teacher in the Silver Lake and Rossville area many years.

She was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 95, Topeka, and United Methodist Church, Soldier. She was graduated from the Flo Menninger Bible Course, taught Sunday school classes more than 25 years, was superintendent of the youth department at the church for 16 years, and was director of Summer Bible School at Silver Lake United Methodist Church. She attended North Topeka Baptist Church and helped organize the pilot group for Senior Citizens VIP Friday luncheons at the church.

She married Alex W. Hansford March 1. 1922. at Silver Lake. He died April 12. 1979. A son, Charles W. Hansford, died in 1968.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Arline McGinnis, Monte Vista, Colo., and Mrs. Lenora M. Henderson, Route 9, Topeka; a son, Isaac Hansford. Topeka; a sister, Mrs. Lena Reamer, Topeka; a brother, Frank Burks, Sheridan, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial was in Silver Lake Cemetery.
