Obituary- Baird, Ernestine 1

Ernestine Baird
Ernestine L. Baird, 89, Maple Hill, died Wednesday, December 11, 2002, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born February 1, 1913, in Chetopa, the daughter of George and Margaret Von Treba Sargent. She lived in the Maple Hill com¬munity the past few years. She had lived in Topeka for many years.
She grew up in the Riley com¬munity and was graduated from Riley High School. She attended Emporia State Teachers College, Emporia. She was a life member of the Riley County Eastern Star.
On December 23, 1941, she married Vernon W. Baird, Sr. He died August 24, 1976. A sister, Elizabeth Sargent, also died.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon W. Baird, Rossville, and George Baird, Carbondale; a daughter, Mary “Susie” Miller, Maple Hill; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Friday at 3 p.m. in the Rossville Cemetery. A family visitation was held from 7-8 Thursday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys.
