Obituary- Hart, John

REV. JOHN W. HART
The Rev. John Hart, 77, retired Presbyterian minister, died Monday morning at his home, 826 Warren. He was born August 12, 1876, in Auburn, Ill., and was graduated from Lincoln, Ill., University in 1896. He received degrees from James Milliken University Decatur, Ill., Cumberland University at Lebanon, Tenn., and the Princeton Theological Seminary.

He was a Presbyterian minister 52 years, serving churches in Illinois, Tennessee and Kansas. He held pastorates in Junction City, Baxter Springs, Phillipsburg, Wamego and Topeka. He retired in 1948 after serving the Oakland Presbyterian church eight years. He was moderator of the Kansas Synod in 1938 and 1939.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carey Hart, of the home; a son James H. Hart, Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Charles E. Hart, Memphis, Tenn., and two grandchildren. Another son, Maj. George Thomas Hart, was killed in plane crash at Lisbon, Portugal, Feb. 22, 1942.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 p. m. Burial in Mount Hope cemetery.

Rev. Hart was pastor of the Rossville Presbyterian Church in the years of World War I and later.
