Ernestine Baird
MAPLE HILL—Ernestine L. Bain), 89, Maple Hill, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born Feb. 1, 1913, in Chetopa, the daugh¬ter of George and Margaret Von Treba Sargent. She was raised in Riley County and graduated from Riley High School. She attended Emporia State Teachers College, and she lived for many years in Topeka.
Mrs. Baird was a member of the Riley County Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She married Vernon W. Baird Sf. on Dec. 23,
1941. He died Aug. 24, 1976.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon W. Baird, Rossville, and George Baird, Carbondale; a daughter, Mary ''Susie" Miller, Maple Hill; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Rossville Cemetery. Mrs. Baird will lie in state at Piper- Verschelden Funeral Horne in St. Marys after 3 p.m. today, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
Contributions may be made to the Maple Hill Com¬munity Congregational Church and sent in care of the funeral home, 714 Maple, St. Marys, 66536.
