Obituary- Hippensteel, Ruth
Ruth Ellen Hippensteel
Ruth Ellen Hippensteel, 67, Silver Lake, died Saturday evening, August 5, 2000, at a Topeka hospital, where she was admitted Friday afternoon after she was injured in a car-truck accident on US-24 highway northwest of Topeka.
She was born June 24, 1933, in Osawatomie, to Cecil V. and Laura Frances Adams Dain. She graduated from Auburn High School in Auburn and Clark’s School of Business in Topeka. She lived in Osawatomie, Valley Falls, Auburn, Othello, WA, Spanaway WA, and Topeka before she moved to Silver Lake. She was a sales representative for Dain’s Real Estate and Insurance and owned and operated the H&R Block agency in Silver Lake.
She married Robert D. Hippensteel April 17, 1959, in Silver Lake. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, James Matthew Hippensteel, Osage City; a daughter, Becki J. Altman, Silver Lake; three brothers, Wesley Dain and Donald A. Dain, both in Silver Lake, and Willis L. “Bill” Dain, Topeka; two sisters, Virginia G. Jackson, Silver Lake, and Nellie Alvera Spelter, Delia; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Hippensteel was cremated. A memorial service was at 10:00 Tuesday (this morning) at the United Methodist Church in Silver Lake. Private inurnment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery northwest of Topeka, under direction of Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka.
