Hladky
Floyd D. Hladky Sr., 80, Soldier, died Wednesday, May 30, 1990, at the home of his daughter in Soldier.
He was born March 12, 1910 in Delia, the son of Edward and Albina Macha Hladky. He grew up in the Delia and Emmett communities. He lived in the St. Clere community and most of his adult life in the Soldier community.
Floyd was a farmer and stockman. He also worked from 1941 to 1973 for Zima Livestock Sale barn, and from 1955 to 1987 for the Atchison Livestock sale barn and from 1958 to 1964 for G.W. Baker Construction.
Floyd liked to play cards and bingo. He raised a garden and took most of the vegetables to bingo and shared them with the elderly.
Floyd never knew a stranger, babies were very special to him, his own or anybody else's. He enjoyed working with wood. He made many lamps, bowls, goblets, candle sticks and numerous other items. He paneled his kitchen with hackberry wood.
He married Kathryn Juanita Baily on Oct. 13, 1932. She died May 12, 1980. He was also preceded in death by twin children, Terry and Sherry, May 26, 1950; and a son, Rocky Hladky, Aug. 31, 1985; his parents, three brothers, Joe, Edward and Bill Hladky; a sister, Helen Luttig; a granddaughter, Krystal Hill; and a great-grandson, Pau Michael Hill II.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sondra and Rex Hill, Soldier; seven sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Eileen Hladky, Fort Lupton, Colo.; Baily and Rose Hladkdy, Holton; Floyd Jr. and Lorma Hladky, Holton; Wayne and Wilma Hladky, Neodesha; Joe and Susan Hladky, Los Angeles, Calif.; Randy and Sue Hladky, Jacksonville, N.C.; Rick and Roseann, Berryton; a daughter-in-law, Jolene Hladky, Holton; three sisters, Christine Luttig, Holton, Inez DeVader, Holton and Bernice Morgan, Port Angeles, Wash.; four brothers, Leonard Hladky, Corning, Ca., Erman Hladky, Sheridan Wyo., Howard Hladky and Bud Hladky, both of Emmett; 5 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 4 at the Mercer Funeral Home. Father Bob Hasenkamp officiated. Dolores Wright played the organ and Clyde and Claude Rieschick sane "Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond he Sunset." Burial was in Holton Cemetery. Mr. Hladky's sons acted as pallbearers. Memorials in honor of Floyd may be sent to the Holton Hospital in care of Dennison State Bank, Holton.
