Louis Hobart, Iowa Native, Dies at Age 74

DELIA – Louis J. Hobart, 74, of Delia, died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired farmer.

He was born May 29, 1894, at Pocahontas, Iowa. Since 1917 he had spent most of his life in the Delia community.

Mr. Hobart was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Delia, and Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville. He was a township trustee many years for Washington township.

He married Evelyn Moore May 25, 1921 at Delia.

Survivors include his widow, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Macha, Rossville, and Mrs. Joan Hofman, Camp Springs, Md.; a son, Donald A. Hobart, Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Edward Hobart, Las Vegas, Nev.; 13 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Delia. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday at Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys.
