Obituary- Banta, Henry

HENRY TAYLOR BANTA
Henry Taylor Banta, was born in Iowa, July 7, 1847,and died Janu¬ary 3, 1924 at the age of 76 years •5 months and 27 days.
On December 9, 1873, he was married to Lucy Summers, and to this union were born ten children, two of whom preceded him to the grave.
The last few years of his life were spent on a homestead near Sterling, Colorado. For several months he has been in very poor health and in November he came to make his home with his son Floyd.
He is survived by one brother, B.R. Banta of Bronson, Kansas; six sons, Floyd, Ross and Sherman, of Delia, Earl of Sterling, Colo., Guy and Elmer of Carl Junction, Mo., two daughters, Mrs. O. F. Purkey of Tecumseh, Kansas and Mrs. James Slackwell, of Kelso, Washington.
Thirty-one grandchildren and four great grand children, besides a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Sat¬urday, Jan. 5, at 2 o’clock from the Presbyterian church at Delia con¬ducted by Rev. Kilgus Interment was made in the Hoyt cemetery.
A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we love is still;
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
