Obituary- Hopkins, Carl

Carl Hopkins
Services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church for Carl O. Hopkins, 78, 1924 N. Central, who died Sunday in a Topeka hospital.

He was born May 10, 1896, at Rossville and spent most of his life in the Topeka community. He served in the Navy during World War I.

He was a coach car man for Santa Fe Railway and worked for the railway 47 years before he retired in 1960. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion.

He was married to Retha Kirby on April 7, 1967. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Orwin L. Hopkins, 2321 Duncan Drive, Robert Hopkins, 1815 Lott and Bernard C. Hopkins, 5625 W. 16th; three sisters, Mrs. Clara McDonald, 721 Roosevelt, Mrs. Dorothy Sader, Fort Riley, and Mrs. Gladys Patterson, Amarillo, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Hopkins will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Brennan Funeral Home where parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
