Obituary- Besta, George 1

George Besta
George Edward "Ed" Besta, 65, Topeka, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Besta worked tor Santa Fe Railway until 1967, and then he worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. until he retired in 1998 as a supervi-sor.
He was born Oct. 14, 1936, in Rossville, the son of Edward and Winfield Yocum Besta. He graduated from Delia High School.
Mr. Besta was a member of Moose Lodge No. 555 and First Lutheran Church. He also bowled in several bowling leagues and played in a Pitch Card League.
He married Nancy L. Parr on Dec. 23, 1958, in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Edward Joseph Besta, Kansas City, Mo., and William Bruce Besta, Olathe; two daughters, Brenda Lou-ise Sanders and Susanne Metcalf, both of Tope-ka; his mother and stepfather, Winifred and Clinton Kerwin, Rossville; two brothers, Bennie Besta, Rossville, and Robert Kerwin, Ozawkie; three sisters, Teresa Marney, Delia, Mary Cowan, Topeka, and Terri Kerwin, Rossville; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Besta will lie in state at Parker-Price Mortuary after 3 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
