Obituary- Hurley, Roger
Roger Hurley
ROSSVILLE — Roger Allen Hurley, 57, Rossville, formerly of Wichita, died Friday, April 25, 2003, at a Rossville nursing home of cancer caused by exposure to the chemical Agent Orange.
Mr. Hurley for eight years was a manager for P.N. Hirsh Stores in Kansas and Missouri. He had worked as a car salesman for Ed Bozarth and Laird Noller in Topeka. He also had worked for Western Uniform in Wichita before retiring for health reasons.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
He also served in Japan, Okinawa, Thailand and Korea.
He earned the Air Force Commendation Medal.
He was born Aug. 14,1945, in Pratt, to John H. and Betsy C. Ross Hurley. He was raised in Harveyville and Rossville until moving to Galena, where he graduated from high school in 1963. He attended Pittsburg State University. He had lived in Wichita before moving to Rossville recently.
Mr. Hurley was a member of Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his mother, Betsy Hurley, Rossville; and two sisters, Linda Hudson, Rossville, and Denise Hurley, Kansas City, Mo.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka. Burial will be at Rossville Cemetery in Rossville. Mr. Hurley will lie in state from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today.
