Obituary- James, Harold
HAROLD E. JAMES
Word cams to Rossville relatives Sunday of the death of Harold E. James which occurred Sunday at the Veteran’s hospital in Roseburg, Ore.
Mr. James was born in Lexington, Okla., April 6, 1892 and passed his 46th, birthday this year. He came to Rossville community in 1908 and lived here until 1922.
He was a soldier in the World War in Co. 9, of the regulars. While home on a furlough from New York, lie was married to Lavina Mansell, of Willard, July 21, 1918. They returned to New York, until the Armistice was signed and then made their home in Willard and Rossville, until their removal to Oregon, in 1922, where they lived until his death. He had been in poor health about nine years, spending a good part of his time in Veteran hospitals in Portland, and Roseburg, Ore. and Walla Walla, Wash. He was a member of the Masonic lodge.
Burial was in Roseburg, cemetery, Tuesday, Oct. 18. He was preceded in death just four months by his father and leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, one daughter, Helen, age 18; and one son, Donald age 13; his mother Mrs. Ida James, three brothers, Earl, Floyd and Everett and two sisters, Mrs. S. O. Parr, Rossville; and Mrs. Vivian Lawrence of Leavenworth.
