JOHN JAMIESON BURIED HERE MONDAY AFTERNOON
The body of John William Jamieson was brought to Rossville cemetery for burial Monday afternoon, following the funeral service held at the home 1427 Jewell avenue, Topeka. The service was conducted by the Rev. H. L. Nelson, pastor of the Potwin Presbyterian church, and a friend of long standing of the deceased when both lived in Rossville.

The death of Mr. Jamieson last Friday afternoon caused grief to his friends in Rossville. His battle for his life was watched with keen interest following a serious operation several months ago, but medical science could give him no aid.

Mr. Jamieson spent the major portion of his life in Rossville, having received his early education in the Rossville schools and later his business training as a local merchant.

He came to Rossville as a boy of 9 with his parents and lived for years on the old home farm northeast of Rossville. He was born July 30, 1870, at Moline, Ill. At the date of his death he was 58 years, 4 months and 7 days old

During his business career here he was always prominently identified with every progressive move for the betterment of the community. He served several years as a member of the city’s governing body. His wife was also a Rossville girl, being before her marriage Miss Eunice Bond.

About 1904 he went to Whiteaker Bros, in Topeka and for the past 24 years had been one of the main cogs in their wholesale business. At the time of his death he was salesmanager for the firm.

He was a member of the Topeka Consistory No. 1, Scottish Rite Masons, the Abdallah Shrine, Media Grotto and the United Commercial Travelers.

He is survived by his wife, five brothers, Walter, Harry and Bruce of Rossville; Edwin Jamieson, Moline Ill., and Ferg Jamieson, Asher, Okla.

Ferg Jamieson of Asher, Okla., came up Sunday to attend the funeral of his brother, J; W Jamieson, at Topeka, Monday afternoon.
