Obituary- Jeffries, James
Jeffries
James William "Bill" Jeffries, 70, Silver Lake, died Thursday, April 25, 1991, at home.
Mr. Jeffries was a machinist for Santa Fe Railway 33 years before he retired in 1974. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was born Sept. 6, 1920, at Silver Lake, the son of Isham and Rosella Maddox Jeffries. He was graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1939 and lived in Silver Lake all his life.
He was a member of Silver Lake United Methodist Church and Silver Lake Post No. 160 of the American Legion.
He was married to Audrey "Jean" Ekart Dec. 24, 1941, at Rossville.
She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Betty Jean Badura, Rossville; sister, Helen G. Kampschroeder, Lawrence; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were at 10 a.m. Monday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Silver Lake Post No. 160 of the American Legion conducted military graveside services in Silver Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Silver Lake United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 188, Silver Lake, 66539; or Hospice of Topeka, 1272 S.W. Fillmore, 66604.
