Harvey C. Bahner
Harvey Cleveland Bahner, 79,
Topeka, died Friday, May 17, 1991, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Bahner farmed near Silver Lake and operated an implement business in Rossville. He later was an undersheriff and deputy sheriff in Shawnee County for many years. He was in charge of the truck and tractor tire depart-ment at Firestone and Goodyear Service stores for 10 years, then truck manager at Shortman Motor Company and car sales-man for Noller Motor Company.
He played professional baseball for farm clubs in the Nebraska State League. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was born August 8, 1911, at DuBois, Nebr., the son of Emil Philip and Rose Dvorak Bahner. He moved to north of Silver Lake at an early age.
Mr. Bahner was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Topeka and served many years on official church boards. He also was a member of Lake Lodge No. 50, AF&AM, and Loyal Chapter No. 176 of the Order of Eastern Star, both in Silver Lake.
He was a member of Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion; Agricultural Division of Topeka Chamber of Commerce; North Topeka Saddle Club; Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 204; Moose Lodge No. 555; Topeka Heart-beats; and Kiwanis Club of West Topeka.
Mr. Bahner was a member of Kansas Peace Officers Associa-tion and American Association of Retired Persons.
He was married to Lucille Davis on November 4, 1945. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Sharon Carlson, Leavenworth; two sons, Lowell H. Bahner, London, and Kevin L. Bahner, Topeka; three sisters, Julia Brees, Delia, Christina Zickefoose, Rossville, and Lorraine Billingsley, Topeka; a brother, Milton Bahner, Ross¬ville; four grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.
Services were 10 a.m. Monday, May 20, in the Church of the Brethren in Topeka. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka, was in charge of arrangements.
