Deaths and Funerals
MRS. H. P. BASQUIN
Virginia Inez Work, second daughter of Joseph and Mary Work, was born in Birmingham, Iowa, Jan. 23, 1887. At the age of seven years she moved with her parents and sis¬ters to Almena, Norton County, Kansas. .She received her early ed¬ucation there and taught three years in the public schools in that com¬munity. Later she took special work in the Garrett Biblical Institute, while her husband was finishing his course in the Garrett Seminary.
In the year 1909 she was married at Almena, Kansas, to Herbert P. Basquin.
She devoted her life to her hus¬band’s work in the ministry serving in every capacity possible, especial¬ly with women and young people, and also in the Sunday School. She was a teacher of the Good Fellow¬ship class in Dunlap charge, at the time of her death.
Mrs. Basquin was a lover of music and played the piano a great deal, especially the hymns, for her own enjoyment and also for those about her.
The various charges on which she served side by side with her hus¬band, were Montrose, Miltonvale, Keats, Lock St., Chicago, LaCygne, Meriden, Rossville, Admine-Miller, Rantoul, Scranton, Melvern and Dunlap.
Being childless, Mrs. Basquin was very devoted to her nieces and ne¬phews and always had their wel-fare at heart.
She leaves to mourn but not with¬out hope, her husband and three sis¬ters, Mrs. Jennie Neece, Holton; Mrs. Mamie Pierce, Topeka; and Mrs. Ethel Boyd, Topeka. Lillian Work, an older sister, her parents and an infant brother preceded her in death: six nephews, four nieces, a number of other relatives and a host of friends are sad at her passing..
She passed away at her home in Dunlap, Kansas, at 1:30 a. m. Fri¬day, Aug. 14, 1936, aged 49 years, 6, months and 21 days.
She was converted at the early age of seven years and became a j member of the M. E. church, ever living strong in the faith.
Funeral services were held at the home at 11 a. m. Sunday and at Scranton M. E. church at 2:30 p. m. and were in charge of L. F. Waring, district superintendent. Interment was in the family lot in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Topeka.
