Elizbeth [sic] Hesse
Elizabeth G. “Liz" Hesse, 65, Topeka, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at a Topeka hospice.

Mrs. Hesse worked for several years at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. She was a real estate broker with Hesse Real Estate, Rossville, and later was manager of the Peppertree Homeowners Association.

She was born Oct. 6, 1935, at Downs, to William H. and Hazel E. Getty. She graduated from Downs High School in 1953 and attended The University of Kansas and Washburn University.

Mrs. Hesse was a member of the Kansas Women’s Golf Association. She was a member of the Countryside United Methodist Church, HC Chapter of PEO and the Order of the Eastern Star. She served on the board of directors for the Topeka Chapter of the American Cancer Society and was a volunteer for the Every Women’s Resource Center.

She married Bums Hesse on Aug. 9, 1958, at Topeka. He survives.

Survivors include two sons, William Scott Hesse, Topeka, and Gregory G. Hesse, Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Steven Getty, Ottawa, and William Getty, Smith Center; three sisters, Patricia Steen, Ulysses, Elaine Casper, Pittsburg, and Helen Philipson, Sacramento, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Countryside United Methodist Church.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Topeka Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead Road, Topeka, 66604; or Midland Hospice Care, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, 66606.
